Sorry for the long delay of absence everyone, I was occupied greatly with spring semester at city college. (Just one more year ½ until I am finally finished with requirement classes to graduate with my art degree! Fingers crossed!) So what’s been going on for me lately?

I’ve taken a break from digital still life and band indie photography to concentrate on making art, doing group exhibition shows, and plans of making my own art feminist riot grrrl online shop/store. Yes, I am taking the plunge. My shop website will be unveiled online coming soon in the near future, for now it’s a work in progress. I’ll be selling online handmade sewn by hand feminist and riot grrrl chibi plushy dolls/rag dolls along with short story-illustrated and mix media collage feminist/riot grrrl self-esteem zines (please google or web search the word zine/zines because it would take me FOREVER to explain that. ^^; ) Right now, I am currently working on hand making a couple chibi plushies to be sold later on the shop site for later.

Other than that, I recently sold two art pieces to two dear feminist-musician-artist friends of mine. (One piece has found a home with the first buyer, happily in her home overseas, while the other piece is waiting to be shipped out of state to the second buyer after the group exhibition show it’s at the moment displayed at has finished for the July month.) I’ve been finishing as well art illustrated-painted commissions for another close riot-grrrl friend of mine at the moment. I may be open in the coming future in Fall-Autumn season for art commissions, it’ll depend on whether or not I am too busy to do that with my online shop, making zines and plushys for the shop, as well as College Fall Semester busy with classes. Time will tell. I will be planning on posting art and photograph shots of any geek theme or band inspired commission art or plushies up here on Deviant ART for examples of my work, just geek/band themed plushies and art only. If you’d like to see more of my original art, please go to my public accounts/sites on my Art Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, or Twitter for that. Sorry!

That’s all I have to post about at the moment, I’m off to continue sewing another plushy chibi or two before getting back to work on a watercolor portrait of Steve Righ? Guitarist of Mindless Self Indulgence “MSI” for a commission client.

I cannot wait for Team Coco tonight, t-minus two hours until we all get to see Gerard Way’s solo debut performance on Conan’s Tonight Show on TBS! Congratulations to Gerard! Way to go Coco! :#1: :salute:

I survived barely the fall semester midterms in one class but came out with a C- in the class so far, my other two classes instructors don’t believe in midterms so thank god! I’m ahead in two classes with hopefully two B's. One of my classes were cancelled today so it’s officially pushed back my group three’s presentation for class back; we’re presenting next week on Monday instead of today. (It’s really frustrating when professors without warning cancel classes because it just pushes back the rest of the semester’s weekly schedules as well as final exams week!) :pissedoff: :dead:

I am finding that I am enjoying my introduction sculpture class more and more once a week on Fridays. So far, we’ve transformed wire hangers into layered spray painted sculptures, took found objects transforming them into new pieces of found art décor. I took a broken garden ceramic-cement bunny from my mother’s front yard bringing it back to life as new art. As a found object, I glue gunned it to sit pedestal wise on layers of broken old fallen tree branches and draping around it’s body layers of dried orange and yellow-gold aged pinetree pines and leaves.  This week on Friday for class, I’ll be taking ceramic extruded round shaped circular and square coils of clay we fired last week to assemble cement glue and spray paint transforming them into spray painted “ceramic sculptures”.  Can’t wait!!! :gallery:

Other than that, I’ve been getting things together to make a couple of test zine books for a friend’s band, myself, and a few friends in art/gift Halloween exchanges. All that’s planned lately. As for Halloween, I’ll be D.I.Y. dressing up as a ER Zombie Nurse, my boyfriend will be a ER Walk In Patient Zombie’s Victim. We’re spending Halloween hanging out with friends likely at a get together or the movies. :) :heartbreaker: :boo: It's amazing what one can do with some thrift store/reusing t-shirts, some Spirit Halloween fake spray blood, costume make up, and other things like art supplies to make zombie homemade costumes.

This Friday I will be attending the city’s first ever movies in the local memorial cemetery’s screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, I’ll be going with my guy and one of my best friends to have fun watching a classic in the cemetery singing along and dancing to it happily. I’ll be sporting my 1920s black cap hat, layers of rock-goth black clothing with leggings, and colorful make up for the occasion. We’ll be bringing our 99 cents store squirt guns, and plenty of TOAST SLICES OF TOAST! :toast: :toast: :toast: :plotting:

Summer will be ending soon for me in about two weeks, before I enter another semester of fall in college. I’ll miss how great this summer holiday vacation has been for me and my guy B.

I spent most of my vacation sleeping, catching up on sleep with cat naps here and there. Took time to just enjoy more time with my geek friends along with my boyfriend B playing dungeons and dragons with other role play games. Since we couldn’t go to Comic Con San Diego, we optioned for just kicking around the comic shops locally in town, stocked up happily on Star Wars, Deadpool, and GOTG’s own Rocket Raccoon comic issues to add to my comic collection.

We went on a little half week road trip a week ago to Palm Springs, CA to just kick back, explore the desert city out there, we went hiking up in the Coachella Mountains being one with nature, and even visited the main museum of modern arts in downtown art county of Palm Springs seeing interesting modern art of pop art from local artists. (Even the visiting pieces from Paris and the Netherlands of small work pieces of Van Gough, Raphele, and Monet!!! Was quite the expierence getting to see those pieces before our eyes, alas, we weren’t allowed due to gallery rules and art law rules to photograph them since they were the original delicate art pieces of history.)

Before the road trip out of town,  I went on a special mission for a dear friend of mine on a covert operation mission to Los Angeles with the trusty boyfriend.  B and I were able to with other many fans attended waiting in line patiently in at Meltdown Comic’s first annual Comic-Con get together signing, to see Gerard Way and Becky Cloonan’s final Killjoys comic series signing. It was a wonderful day, it was great getting to meet the two of them again like we did many other times at prior comic signings and former-MCR/MSI Shows, or Lindsey (Lyn-Z) public art show openings to just hang out and say hi with a small friendly chat. I got my dark horse lanyard necklace signed by Gerard, but was more delighted that he and Becky were kind enough to help me with a surprise gift by signing an extra issue of  Killjoys Issue #2 I had bought for them to wish signing personal messages of “Happy Birthday Jazmin” for one of my best friends/closest allies in art :iconaliciaevan: (Happy to report that she was delighted-surprised-excited when I called her later in the comic shop to inform her of what I had done, and as I type, that special belated birthday gift is now in her hands after I had it with other comic and art gifts I wrapped up for her shipped first air postal delivery for her days after the signing.)

I was happy she loved the gift, waiting in line, waiting patiently to ask Mr. Way and Ms. Cloonan to sign that comic for her and getting to chat shortly with them was worth it all. Plus I got to stock up on other comic goodies for myself when I shopped around the store after my turn at the signing tables was up.

My birthday in June came and passed, celebrated it at a theme park with B, then a later planned get together dinner with him, my family, and relatives, as well as close friends. B got me a digital vinyl record player for me to play some of my band records on. One of my good friends a fellow riot grrl took me out for the day and went with me to a tattoo shop to get my first official Angel Bite/Monroe lip body piercing which came out lovely. No regrets!

Other than that, I’ve spent the summer also working on new alter-shrine shadow box mix media pieces, small collage paintings, sketches. I’m currently working on a new Frida Kahlo shrine alter box right now that’s a work in progress. In fall this semester, I’m taking my first introduction to sculpting class that I’m excited about.

Winter so far

3 min read

It’s been quite the ride since Christmas holidays ended. So I thought I’d summarize what’s gone down and keep it short.

November-December:

    ·  The autumn semester of college was predictable. I passed my stress management/meditation/yoga and animation: beginning principles with a 3.00 GPA. THAT WAS A FLIPPING RELIEF BEYOND RELIEF!

    ·  Christmas season was quite the rollercoaster ride! I baked, made/bought wrapped gifts for family, friends, best friends, and my boyfriend with his family. I received some great gifts from geek stuff, pajama pants of Adventure Time, candy, gift cards, cash, etc.

    ·  New Year’s holidays weren’t as positive sadly because my boyfriend’s wonderful and amazing Grandma in her early 80s the Scottish “Great Old One” as we’ve all nicknamed her sadly passed away during the New Year Day after a long fight with her health. So it was especially hard for my boyfriend and his loved ones, so I was happy to be his supportive rock during this unfortunate time.

January-Currently:

    ·  It’s officially summer-winter here in California: winter literally has become a whirlwind joke here with the continuing “sunny sun” despite winds, cold air, etc. and miniature weak earthquakes.

    ·  Preparing myself again for another spring semester at school part time/full time as an art major: this season I’m tackling Advanced Acrylics/Oil Painting in Arts, Digital Photography Introductory in Photo, and History of California in History. Waiting for instructors to post the required textbooks/reading materials online the generator list via online campus bookstore sucks…it’d be nice if they posted it early ahead of time vs. the waiting snail game.

    · I have been off/on getting deeper into solo-freelance photography. I got to photograph Chantal Claret when she did a free show at Bardot’s School Night in Hollywood, Los Angeles in December with my digital Nikon. The experience was awesome, along with getting to see Chantal again after the show. Cannot wait to photograph more things thrown at me this year.

    · Got my tickets for Mindless Self Indulgence’s next tour this spring in April. I cannot wait to hang with my girl friends, the greatest girls/riot grrrls a girl can ask for as great friends to rock out seeing the infamous quartet rock another venue in LA again like last year.

    · One of my good friends Euni-Chan is visiting me this spring during my spring break and joining me for the MSI show! WOOT! Fun times ahead for the two of us!

Greetings, I know it’s been a while since my last post in august, but of course you know how personal-private life keeps one busy naturally. But I’m officially backed for good. Here’s what’s been going on since last:

Another autumn semester has been happening in college for me. I’m going part time still as an art student due to the budget cuts, economic chaos affecting every school sadly. But I’m thankful that I was able to get at least two classes between free time of life. Animation-I is good, just tiring and keeping me busy with drawings, etc. and Meditation-Yoga-Stress class is excellent: Meditating, Yoga moves, and the entire theory on stress, etc. is amazing! It’s life changing literally.

I’ve been jumping between wonderful unofficial jobs/experience as a non-paying freelance artist between my time as a “student art major”. I’ve been photographing my friends’ bands local gigs/shows in the city/county of my area outside of Los Angeles counties, and it’s been amazing! My Nikon camera digitally is the greatest thing ever in cameras. As for my own art, I’ve been enjoying the calmness of painting and sculpting more in mixed media paintings and dark concept themes I am working on off-on.

Today I saw Thor 2 with “Beez” my boyfriend, despite an annoying child kicking my seat constantly behind me in the theatre’s front row, I did enjoy the movie. We hung out around the mall and I found a score of CDs deal wise at F.Y.E. of old school: Green Day’s Insomniac & Warning, and Hole’s Life Through This which rocked!!!

Other than that, I’m still saving up for my first ever official drum kit, hopefully I can find a used Pearl drum kit set jazz wise or whatever will play great metal-punk wise with the kind of music my closest friends/band mates and I want to handle playing up.

More things will be posted on my Deviant ART page ASAP.

XOXO, CassandraMalfoy
